This new gun law thing in California…
I don’t agree with it at all. I get that people still have to go through all the background checks, they just don’t have to wait 10 days to get the gun if they already own a gun.
Some guys said it’s great cause we’re moving towards guns laws like Texas has.
NEWS FLASH DUDE California doesn’t have the same kind of people/communities or prosecution standards like Texas does.
So until that happens, no I’m not comfortable with less strict gun laws no matter how minor they may seem.
Okay rant done.
The Ice Bucket Challenge and Why I Have a Problem With It
So as a Californian, yes I am jumping on the idea that the Ice Bucket Challenge is bad for the drought because I believe it really is. But let me explain myself…
I totally understand that this has raised so much money for ALS and it has just encouraged people to donate to charities in general. And as a person that strongly believes in donating money or your time, I think that aspect is awesome. However, the fact that we (California and other areas) are in a drought is extremely worrisome.
I know one bucket of water might not seem like a lot to an individual in comparison to getting the word out there about ALS and donating. However, when more and more people start thinking that way or someway similar, that’s when it really starts effect the drought situation.
I realize that the whole point is to donate or get dumped with cold water, but now I think its at a point where people could just make videos talking about donating and ALS and not waste water on all of this. I know its not as exciting but people need to realize what it is doing to our water supply.
Now I also realize this is not the only problem we have with our water supply. I know there are a bunch of other ways people are still wasting water. But this is one thing that is just adding to the list of ways people are wasting water. Any other time when we’re not in a drought, I say go for it! Dump that cold water on you.
I’ve just seen an extreme amount of these videos posted recently, even after these articles about how much water its actually wasting have come out.
Now some ways I think you can get away with doing it and not hurt the drought more…
You have a pool, stand in your pool and use your pool water (I’ve seen some people do this already, which is awesome). Live near a body of water (lake, ocean, river), use that water. Only access of water is whatever comes out of the pipes, just don’t do it. Make a video about still talking about ALS and donating though. Its not as exciting to watch but if enough people do something it will still get noticed.
